One of the things I LOVE about Houston are the thunderstorms. In California [at least the area I grew up in] lightning & thunder are a rare occurrence. When my husband and I first moved here, in the fall of ‘06, Houston was being repeatedly pounded by thunderstorms. John and I would open all our blinds, turn off all the lights, face the couch toward the windows, and we would just sit and watch the lightning. We were like little kids oohing and aahing with each strike.
Yesterday when a storm swept through our neighborhood I decided to get out my camera. This was my first attempt at photographing lightning and it was a lot harder than I expected! I probably took about 200 shots before I captured this last hurrah. The storm was all but gone, a rainbow had come out [two actually], and I was just about to call it quits when this happened.
