Stephanie & Brian: Cole’s Country

Brian & Stephanie’s wedding had such a great laid back Texas feel about it. Cole’s Country is a lovely venue and Sandra Cole couldn’t be any sweeter or more accommodating.

Usually I have to coax the bride and groom away from the reception for a few minutes to get some night shots but not these two, they were all about it!

Happy 4th of July!

Painting with light is funtastic! Can you tell what I drew? Yes, no, maybe so……it was supposed to be a flower. Be nice it was my first time :)

Thunderstorm

One of the things I LOVE about Houston are the thunderstorms. In California [at least the area I grew up in] lightning & thunder are a rare occurrence. When my husband and I first moved here, in the fall of ‘06, Houston was being repeatedly pounded by thunderstorms. John and I would open all our blinds, turn off all the lights, face the couch toward the windows, and we would just sit and watch the lightning. We were like little kids oohing and aahing with each strike.

Yesterday when a storm swept through our neighborhood I decided to get out my camera. This was my first attempt at photographing lightning and it was a lot harder than I expected! I probably took about 200 shots before I captured this last hurrah. The storm was all but gone, a rainbow had come out [two actually], and I was just about to call it quits when this happened.

Engagement Session: Hermann Park

I met up with Ramona & Bill at one of the best little cafe’s in Montrose, Empire Cafe. We enjoyed some cold drinks before heading out into the Houston heat & humidity to photograph their engagement session.

The Knot: Just Married

One of my favorite wedding magazines is The Knot, it’s a great resource for brides and features some beautiful wedding photography. So it was a big honor for me when I was contacted by the weddings photo editor of the magazine and asked to submit a little something for the fall/winter issue. This issue is currently on newsstands across Texas. To see more from this wedding check out this previous post.

Engagement Photo Session: Armand Bayou

I met with Cherise & Matt at my favorite little nature preserve to photograph their engagement session. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day; there was a gentle breeze, low humidity, beautiful wispy clouds and sunny skies. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for weather that perfect on their wedding day!

The Centurion Palace

Jessica and Ken were married in the courtyard of the Centurion Palace. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful, I especially enjoyed photographing the release of the doves. This was the wedding of the season, even Kermit was in attendance ;)

Engagement Session: California

I got to jet out to my beautiful home state of California to photograph an engagement session. Life doesn’t get any better than photographing a fun couple in a gorgeous location. April & Chad were fantastic, their chemistry is undeniable and they are both so funny and so kind, I can’t wait to go back in July to photograph their wedding I just know it’s going to be unforgettable!

Engagement Session: Hermann Park

I spent a hot and humid afternoon with Brian & Stephanie wandering the grounds of Hermann Park. Midway through our photo shoot we had to seek refuge from the heat so we went to my favorite Mexican eatery “100% Taquito”. I was grateful for the opportunity to get to just sit and talk. After our respite we headed back out and captured some beautiful images.
